Based on the island of Maui, Ecotones Design was founded by Alex Tranovich in 2020. Alex draws on a broad ecological worldview with over 15 years of experience in native plant propagation, habitat restoration, and conservation education across Maui, North America and Europe. After leading gap year conservation programs on Maui, he now works at a native Hawaiian plant nursery and assists groups from landowners to landscape architects in their journey to learn more about incorporating native plants in their projects. Alex continues to volunteer with student groups and local organizations in the conservation community to care for Hawaiian habitats while wearing out his boots exploring and appreciating the islands with his wife Amber and their dog Leo.
